Cockaigne Ski Area - 1493 Thornton Rd (CR 66), Cherry Creek, NY - Sadly, the historic Austrian chalet burned to the ground in late January 2011, but the runs, chairlifts, etc. were undamaged. So, area ski resorts and local businesses have come together to donate rental ski and snowboard equipment, large tents, etc. so that great folks at Cockcaigne could re-open and complete the season. The kindness of our neighbors is one of the many reasons why we live in this area of western New York and Cockcaigne's friends and neighbors have come through in spades to support this lovely ski resort and her many employee's. Future plans are to re-open the Granary Restaurant across the street from the resort so that food and other amenities will be easily available for skiers and snowmobilers alike. |
