About Us - How to register a sled in NY |
|
The members of our club receive a free county-wide trail map and the club newsletter. Club members also, automatically, become members of the New York State Snowmobile Association (NYSSA). As of April 30, 2006 – SRRA “two-tier” law is in effect: All snowmobilers riding the trails are required to register their sleds with New York State. The cost is $45.00 if you are a club member or the fee will be $100 if you do not belong to a NYSSA club. There are four ways that you can join a snowmobile club in New York State: 1) NYSSA Online System: fill out the on-line application, pay with your credit card and print out your snowmobile registration discount voucher (this is available right now at New York State Snowmobile Association Membership Website or by clicking on the link provided on our home page) 2) by joining a Club directly: print out our membership form (see above), fill out the form and mail to the club's PO Box with your check and receive a numbered snowmobile registration discount voucher in return, as proof of membership, 3) at a Snowmobile Dealership (pick a club when buying a new sled, so the dealer can complete your registration and you can receive the discount or you will have to pay the full $100 registration fee with no discount) 4) at a NYS DMV (Department of Motor Vehicle) Office: fill out the club application at the DMV office and pay for your club membership and complete your discounted snowmobile renewal registration all at one time.
New York State, Department of Motor Vehicle has snowmobile registrations available every Saturday in February, from 9AM to 1PM, at The Depot on Rte 394 in Mayville, NY. Registrations also available at The Pine Junction on Bailey Hill Road in Findley Lake (restaurant/bar on the trail, in the woods). For Snowmobile Safety Course Information call the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Dept. at (716) 753-2131, as they keep a list of all courses being offered throughout the year in our county.
